Xavier Ohnsorg, died at his residence in this city on Friday, January 17th 1896, of general decline, aged 75 years 2 months and 16 days. Deceased was born in Freihalden, Kingdom of Bavaria, October 29th 1820. In 1854, being young, strong and vigorous, he conceived the idea of emigrating to America and carve out his fortune in the western wilderness. He came to Carver County and this has been his home ever since. He endured the privations of pioneer life in Minnesota during the fifties and transformed a heavily timbered farm into a beautiful farm, rearing a family of one son and three daughters, which with a beloved wife survive him. Some ten years ago he left the farm to the management of his son Ferdinand and moved to this city where he enjoyed the fruits of a well spent life. He suffered a slight stroke of paralysis last summer and has been on the decline ever since, the last three months having been confined to the bed in a helpless condition. He was a devoted husband and father and kind neighbor and died beloved and mourned by all. (The Weekly Valley Herald, Thursday, January 23, 1896, Page 5)
