The 1875 Minnesota census showed Joseph Veit (age 58, born in Germany) married to Kate (age 57, born in Germany) and living in Chaska, Carver County, Minnesota. Children Chas. (age 25, born in Germany), Mary (age 21, born in Minnesota), Kate (age 18, born in Minnesota), and Anne (age 17, born in Minnesota) also lived with the couple.

The 1880 United States census showed Joseph Veit (age 63, born in Germany, farmer) married to Catherine (age 63, born in Germany) and living in Chaska, Carver County, Minnesota. Son Charles (age 30, born in Germany, farmer) also lived with the couple.
