The demon of death has again visited us, this time claiming as its victim, one of our honored pioneer settlers, Mrs. John Heinecke, her demise occurring Sunday morning, April 12, 1903, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 24 days. Mrs. Heinecke (nee Miss Anna Sophia Maury) was born in the city of Kneestedt, Kingdom of Hanover, on December 18, 1818, and sailed for the United States in 1849, arriving here on July 1st. She was united in marriage to John Henry Heinecke, on March 5, 1849, while in Hanover. They settled at Harrisburg, Penn., immediately upon their arrival and made that their home until along in 1852, when they moved west to Detroit, Mich., where they remained for about two years. They then emigrated to the Territory of Minnesota, and made that their home for one year. They then moved into Carver county and settled upon the old homestead west of this city which has been their home ever since. (The Weekly Valley Herald, Thursday, April 16, 1903, Page 1)
